Sister Midnight is the perfect mix of drama laced with humour and a sprinkling of horror.
Sister Midnight tells the story of a young woman who had an arranged marriage with a man who she dominates from the get go. Then it takes an unfortunate turn especially for her husband!
Representation matters and I especially enjoyed watching Indian woman shown as strong on screen. The fact that she doesn’t know how to cook is refreshing at dispelling the tired tropes of a woman’s worth. The soundtrack is great.
My only criticism is that it needed more ruthless editing as I felt it ran out of steam in the final 20 minutes.
Sister Midnight was first shown at LFF 2024 and released in UK cinemas on 14 March 2025.
