I’m a Rotten Tomatoes accredited film critic which means I can chat and watch – but not at the same time! I’ve appeared on The Film Programme, BBC Radio 4 and live on BBC2’s Victoria Derbyshire show. I covered both the Cannes and then London Film Festivals in 2017 for HMV and FOPP and, write a monthly spotlight piece on the actor or director of the month. When not covering festivals, I’m interviewing directors and actors, watching lots of films, running a monthly film club and making guest appearances on podcasts.
I’ve survived moving countries (LDN – Paris -LDN), a car crash and a 26 hour flight wearing a neck brace all alone. But, eating dinner alone in a restaurant was something that filled me with fear: all those pitying looks etc and forget about drinking in a bar alone – no way, never! I got over it fast – first dining solo in Paris and now back in London.
More people than ever live alone: 10.5 million to be exact in 2011 (Euromonitor International Report – 17 May 2012).
If you want to read about great restaurants, bistros, bars and hidden gems that only the locals know about then you’ve come to the right place. This blog is independent – I pay for all my own meals and drinks so that I can tell it like it is whether it’s fabulously tasty or just vomit inducing. I don’t have Michelin star money so you’ll read about quirky, hip and classic places on here and what they are really like!
PS: Why is the website called Liquid Marmalade? Not enough sugar to oranges, the result is 12 jars sitting in my kitchen cupboard with no clue of how to get rid of them…
