With the sun shining once again on London town and I’ve finally gotten over the clocks going forward, I’m now thinking of outdoor eating. Frankly, it’s not warm enough for me to eat outside. Before my five years in Paris, a little London sunshine and I’d be death staring out occupants of an outdoor table. Here’s the thing, Paris spoilt me and now I need it to be hot, sun beating down on my back before I even think of parking my backside on outside tables. When it does get hot enough, I’m heading back to The Petersham, part of the newish Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden. It is one of the Instagram worthy locations but don’t fear the beautiful people, get there early enough and you can join lady muck here sitting in one of the prime outside tables in the courtyard. Yes, I said courtyard so it really is the holy grail of outdoor eating places in London, no foot traffic looking at you as you stuff your face and they tut past as they squeeze past your table hogging the narrow pavement space.
Location, Location

It’s in the delightful and oh so chic Floral Court – you can access it via King Street. There are two restaurants – a delightful looking Italian restaurant and the Petersham.
Good Vibes
You betcha especially sitting outside surrounded by the gorgeous flowers and foliage. The tables are not too close together so you can enjoy an intimate moment or join me in joining a glorious solo moment.
The maitre d was a wonderfully upbeat French woman who was so welcoming and smiling, I couldn’t help smiling. Actually all the staff were lovely.
The Food

I was in time for the pre-theatre set menu and whilst the standard three choices per course, it was pretty difficult to decide. For the most part I try to be gluten free simply because I am better when not eating it. They were able to deal with this no problems. I plumped for the white peaches and parma ham to start with followed by the chicken and mash. Whilst the main was lovely, the starter was a show stopper I should have ordered a double portion and had that for a main.

Yes, I did have a cheeky wine whilst waiting and pre-theatre and the wine was good, drinkable and I have no idea of the name but remember it was one of the cheaper glasses – ha ha!

Baby in the corner? Er no – Baby was given her pick of the tables outside, the staff were so lovely.
Pricey? Not really but then again as I was pre-theatre I only had two courses set menu for £29.50 plus a glass of wine! However, I reckon with friends it could pricey fast.
Where? Floral Court, London, WC2E 9FB
How? It’s a hop and skip around the corner from Covent Garden tube, ok more like a 7 min walk and about a 10 min walk from Leicester Square tube.
