Film Review – Blue

Film Review – Blue

Blue’s central message is that love conquers all even death in this sensitive and delicate look at grief and ultimately hope written and directed by Deva Palmier.

Blue is a story about a couple whose daughter suddenly dies and the different ways they each choose to cope with this devastating loss.

The grief and searching for ways in which to communicate with her dead daughter are handled with care and curiosity. It might have felt wacky watching a mother talk to the sky and ask if her daughter is in heaven but somehow the sensitive handling by writer and director Deva Palmier means it never feels like that. At times, the absence of rage between the couple does feel startling, it might have made the film a bit more arresting.

Blue is an intimate film that quietly unfolds much like grief. Blue is now available to stream on Amazon Prime USA, UK and Canada.
