I experienced the glamour, glitz and giddy heights of walking the red carpet and yes I even managed to watch a few films! I covered the Cannes Film Festival 2017 for HMV and FOPP and you can catch my reviews on their sites. The two outstanding films for me were – You Were Never Really Here and Good Time.
Boom!! Robert Pattinson has arrived. He's the loving brother and sociopath all mixed into one. It was the talk of Cannes and for good reason!
D\'apres une histoire vraie/ Based on a True Story
Polanski is back with a thriller which feels like a mixture of Misery and Persona...it's intriguing!
After love comes indifference. This was the latest film by Michel Haneke shown at Cannes, it was billed as an examination of the refugee crisis but really that was 5% of the film the rest shone a spotlight on middle class morals and self loathing.
You Were Never Really Here
Lynne Ramsay together with Joaquin Phoenix hit this out of the park. It may be short in length but not emotional impact. Read my review on FOPP!
Very few men are worth waiting 25 years for. Alas Dale Cooper even with hot coffee, cherry pie, slick black hair, a cast full of famous, distinguished actors felt past it.
Here come the girls! Sofia Coppola won the best director award at Cannes 2017 with her all-female cast and the objectified Colin Farrell who plays the wounded fox in the hen house. Read my full review on FOPP.
